The Energy of Money Podcast

The Deprivation Cycle

Episode Summary

Sometimes in order to justify our desire or need for something, we rationalize it by saying we "deserve it." It may come from a good place--perhaps you worked hard one week and simply want to reward yourself with a treat. However, this can quickly become a cycle and a habit--a habit that can be hard to break. In psychology, this is called operant conditioning. Operant conditioning states that a behavior that is rewarded will occur more often. Dr. Maria Nemeth calls this cycle the Deprivation Cycle. Listen in and discover how to break the cycle and regain control of your energy of money.
